    As usual–so smart it seems obvious in hindsight.

    We look for 5 criteria in a SM manager, though I’ll allow that the ultimate test is our gut:
    • Subject matter expertise (so they have opinions)
    • Subject matter experience (goes to credibility)
    • Existing demonstrations of leadership (have helped others take-part somehow)
    • Ego–they need to want to famous (open to the rush of interacting)
    • Passion– they need to want their platform (sites, accounts, etc) to be a place that others want to be seen

    Not yet. However, organisations are increasingly considering this job profile as one with great responsibility. Social media gurus and consultants will eventually have to evolve or make place for experienced senior marketers who will consider the social media space as a virtual territory where share of voice & influence will have to be fought for.
