7 Reasons To Launch An Organic Brand
1. It is a clutter-free market.
Except for organic foods and organic personal products, there is not much activity in this space.
To give you an example, I ran a search on Amazon for books on organic branding and nada!
Nobody has gotten around to writing a book on creating and sustaining an organic brand. The closest I got to was The Handbook of Organic and Fair Trade Food Marketing
2. Organic consumers are more main-stream than one would expect.
They are not placard holding activists. Rather, organic consumers are more educated and sophisticated placing value on ecological sustainability.
They span across age groups, from boomers who care about wellness and are seeking healthy lifestyle choices to young adults who subscribe to recycling to whole families who have made a conscious choice to follow a green lifestyle.
3. Organic consumers are willing to pay a premium.
Premiums reflect both consumer demand and available organic supply. As organic goes mainstream, consumers are demanding more than organic brands can produce and distribute.
As an organic brand owner, you are fully entitled to charge a premium, one that your clientele would be only too happy to pay.
4. You don’t need to move to the city to launch your organic brand.
One of the main characteristics of an organic brand is provenance. It refers to the place of origin and gives consumers an idea of what your brand is all about.
Say you are an organic meat supplier – as a consumer, I would like you to be as far away from the city as possible, maybe on a hillock, where the grass is green and the air is fresh.
An environment such as this adds to your product quality and brand value.
5. Organic brands evolve organically.
The evolution of an organic brand can be termed as organic in itself. It starts with an activity you begin in your backyard or your spare room. You send out a few samples to the local supermarket. They place an order for their supermarket chain. An interview in the local newspaper gets picked up and gives you wider coverage on other media. Next thing you know, you are a successful organic brand.
When launching an organic brand, you don’t need large marketing and advertising resources. Sincerity, an eye on quality and sampling will take you a long way.
6. Niche organic brands can be quite profitable
There are many niches that can prove to be quite profitable if you want to launch an organic brand. Consider this – new and expectant mothers are the fastest-growing category in the organic consumer base. It is no surprise that there are a number of organic baby products like toys, food, clothes, bedding etc.
I wonder if there are any organic brands for expecting mothers. While most expecting mothers would consciously shift to organic foods, there are a million ways for toxins to get into the body. Think organic in maternity clothing, stretch mark creams, perfumes & cosmetics.
7. Owning an organic brand gives you a tremendous amount of satisfaction
At the end of the day, part of the reason you want to launch an organic brand is because you are a believer. The world needs people who give stride to their beliefs. To be part of a movement that charts the right course for humanity is a priceless feeling.
